Australia Visa Fee Increase for Doctors 2026

From 1 July 2026, the Australian Government has officially increased Visa Application Charges (VACs) across a number of visa categories, including some of the most commonly used visa pathways for internationally trained doctors moving to Australia.

While any increase in relocation costs is understandably something candidates will want to factor into their plans, it is important to understand the bigger picture, particularly when many healthcare employers continue to offer relocation assistance and the long-term earning potential for doctors in Australia remains significantly higher than many equivalent roles in the UK.

Which Visa Fees Have Increased?

For doctors relocating to Australia, the two visa categories most commonly used through employer-sponsored pathways have both seen notable fee increases.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Visa (Subclass 482)

Previously: $3,210 AUD
From 1 July 2026: $4,015 AUD

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (Subclass 186)

Previously: $4,910 AUD
From 1 July 2026: $6,140 AUD

These updated fees form part of broader changes introduced by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, impacting multiple visa categories across migration pathways.

For doctors actively considering relocation, this does mean upfront migration costs are now higher than they were previously.
