Consultant Anaesthetist – Tropical Coastal Queensland

We are seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist for a fulfilling role in one of Australia’s most desirable coastal regions.  This is an outstanding opportunity to join a progressive regional health service undergoing significant expansion, offering a diverse clinical casemix, excellent work–life balance, and strong professional support.

The Position

You will join a busy regional referral hospital with over 230 beds, providing services to multiple rural facilities across a large North Queensland catchment. The hospital is currently embarking on a major $250m redevelopment that will add more than 100 new inpatient beds and expand outpatient and support services. Additional upgrades are also being rolled out across several rural hospitals within the region.

As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will enjoy a stimulating and varied clinical workload, including:

• General medicine

• Paediatrics

• General surgery and orthopaedics

• Obstetrics & gynaecology

• Mental health

• Emergency medicine and intensive care

You will work within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment, supported by active emergency, anaesthetics, and critical care teams, as well as extensive allied health services. Tertiary support is provided by major hospitals in Townsville and Brisbane, with strong connections to medical teaching and training programs.

Your salary is based on a scale dependant on level of experience. Salary banding is between $210K and $266K with a total remuneration between $480K – $520K. Additional benefits include superannuation contribution; professional development leave and allowances ($21K). Additional benefits of vehicle allowance, overtime allowances and retention incentives.
