Consultant Anaesthetist – Nelson

Ref: 307

Are you looking for a rewarding Anaesthetist role and great work-life balance? This is an opportunity to join the growing team in Nelson where your expertise makes a difference. Be part of something special: supportive colleagues in one of New Zealand’s most sought-after regions.

About the Role

As a key member of  the Anaesthesia team, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialties.  Working in a collaborative and well-respected team, you will contribute to both planned care and acute services, ensuring safe and effective patient outcomes.

You will become part of a dedicated team of 17 experienced and supportive SMO colleagues, six ANZCA basic trainees along with a highly competent surgical and ICU team, all committed to delivering excellence in patient care.

You will be working within a secondary care setting participating in the anaesthetic roster, covering planned care and acute theatre sessions, anaesthesia after-hours on call support, anaesthetic pre-assessment clinics and working as the duty anaesthetist.

The Anaesthesia team consists of experienced consultants, ANZCA trainees, skilled anaesthetic technicians, and registered nurse assistants to the anaesthetist. We pride ourselves on our collegial environment, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to continuous learning and development.

These positions offer an excellent work – life balance and a broad case mix across surgical specialties, encompassing both elective and acute care, within a supportive and collegial environment.
