This is a sole GP position where you will be the only doctor in town. You will be replacing a UK trained GP in the practice and will have plenty of support from the wider team. The practice hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm with on call requirement at evenings and weekends. On-call has been very well managed by the previous GP and is initially nurse led so very few call outs required.

The Practice

The practice is a very comfortable, large, solo practice with administration staff and Registered nurses. There is allied health and community nursing staff within the same building. The local hospital is just 100m from the practice. The patient base is mixed with a fairly young population. 

The practice opening hours are Monday to Friday only and there is an on-call requirement for evenings and weekends. Primarily managed by the nursing staff, the previous doctor received around one phone call per fortnight. Non priority cases can be managed by video facility from Adelaide however more urgent cases need to be managed to coordinate hospital transfer to Adelaide either by ambulance or the Flying Doctor service. 

As part of the role you will need to manage the hospital inpatients. There may be 2-3 inpatients at any one time, the previous doctor would see the patients in the afternoon during the week and then once at weekends as required. 

The Position

The community are looking for a GP to replace the existing UK doctor. You will be offered a guaranteed income of $400K plus house and car for the duration of the contract. Your relocation costs will be covered up to $20K plus your visa application cost. There are additional ongoing rural incentive payments.

The GP owner is still involved in the practice and will offer initial supervision and ongoing support. You will have video access to Consultants based in Adelaide for more complex cases and for general advice. 

We’re looking for a GP who is keen for the challenge and excitement of such a role. Full training can be provided in Australia with plenty of opportunities to upskill where required. 

You will have lots of support from the local community where ongoing GP support is valued. The local council have offered to fund the training of your Pilots licence in addition to the salary package. 

Location

This is a very interesting rural GP position based in South Australia  500km west of Adelaide. The town is a friendly farming community with fairly young population of 1200. 

It is an agricultural town with the majority of the population working in related industries.

There is a beautiful coastline 45 minutes away and national parks are a 40 minute drive. In the town there is a school from Kindergarten to High school. There is a swimming pool, sports centre and golf club and places to eat and drink.
