GP Job Christchurch – The Practice

This is a GP owned medical centre based on the East coast of the South Island, in a semi-rural town 30 minutes drive from Christchurch.

It is a 4 GP practice with 4 nursing staff and a Healthcare Assistant. They are a highly supportive team with great administration support and dedicated support getting settled in with the computer system etc. They offer internal peer group support and meet regularly with the team and other GPs in the area.

The practice looks after 3500 patients with a mix from middle to higher socio-economic backgrounds and a patient mix of families and retirees. The practice is in a superb, well designed and comfortable building. The practice is open Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm. There are pharmacies, physio, lab and x-ray services close by.

The day consists of 4 hour sessions with starting and finishing times which are flexible and appointments are booked in at 15 minute intervals. All staff work part time and you can choose hours which suit you. This allows for the team to be well rested with a great work / life balance.

The team have regular practice meetings and the GPs enjoy holding peer group meetings every month.

This is a hugely supportive practice, the Practice Owner will help you get set up with accommodation and car when you arrive, show you round and make sure you and your family settle well into the area. They are a social team and make sure you are able to enjoy a fabulous work / life balance.

 

The Location

The practice is based in a semi-rural town just north of Christchurch. The town serves as a gateway to the amazing outdoor activities in the district. The beaches of Pegasus Bay are within easy reach and the nearby rivers are popular for fishing and walking. The wider area offers excellent walking and bike trails with national parks and conservations areas close by.

Christchurch is the largest city on the South Island of New Zealand set in the beautiful Canterbury region. A culturally diverse city, it has amazing outdoor activities, a cosmopolitan lifestyle with food, cafes and great restaurants.

The area allows you to ski, hike, mountain bike, swim, play golf and see stunning wildlife all within 2 hours drive of the city! Christchurch has an international airport for easy access to flights back to the UK or to other parts of New Zealand, Australia and Asia.
