GP Job Hastings – The Practice
The practice is seeking experienced GPs to provide patient-centred care. Doctors are supported by a great team of 8 nurses and reception and administration staff.
Opening hours are Monday – Friday 8am to 6pm. The practice is co-located with separately owned Pharmacy and Physio and they have their own X-ray facilities on site. The practice is a teaching practice and can offer supervision to new doctors.
The practice has a multicultural patient base with a mix of European, Maori, Pacific and Asian patients seeing a range of young to old.
The Position
The practice allows for individual development and encourages individuals to improve and diversify their practice. Doctors are exposed to urgent and acute cases as well as seeing regular general practice and chronic care patients.
Patient appointment times are standard 15 minutes however you will start off at 20 minute consultations whilst you build your patient base. The practice offers a walk in service and GPs rostered share time on the service in addition to enrolled patients. There is a small element of weekend on-call which is shared among 7 doctors.

Hastings is based in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand which is along the East coast of the North Island. It is one of New Zealand’s premium wine producing regions with many high quality wineries and restaurants within the area. The area sees one of highest sunshine hours of New Zealand.
Living in Hawkes Bay allows access to local fresh produce and affordable housing. Sporting facilities are readily available and it’s easy to utilise the outdoors with parks, forests, lakes and beaches on your doorstep. Hawkes Bay has a Mediterranean style climate with long summers with temperatures in the mid 20s and relatively short mild winters.
Getting around the rest of the country is easy with Hawkes Bay regional airport operating flights to the main hubs with Auckland and Wellington within an hour’s flight and Christchurch in 90 minutes. From these airports there is access to international flights. You can reach Lake Taupo for adventure sports in 1.5 hours drive and ski fields in 2 hours.
