GP Job Coromandel Coast- The Practice
This is a GP owned medical centre based on the beautiful Coromandel Coast. The practice is owned by 3 Directors, 2 of whom are UK trained GPs who have made the area their home. The practice has recently merged with another centre and is across 2 sites within 2 mins walk. There are 6 GPs in total. There is a patient population of 8000 and with an intended expansion of the practice, the patient population will grow. They are therefore looking for an additional GP.
Most GPs work 4 days per week with a share in the weekend on-call. The weekend shift is from 5 pm on Friday to 8 am on Monday and includes a short clinic on Saturday and Sunday. There is one overnight call per week however this is nurse triaged and it rare to receive a phone call on this shift.
Patients are booked in at 15-minute consultations in a 4-hour session with time for paperwork and telephone enquiries. There is an excellent nursing team to support GPs.
The team are looking for an all-round good GP. This is a friendly, teaching practice with lots of support settling in on both a professional and personal level. They offer an excellent salary with flexibility on hours and start date.
The practice will pay the Medical Council fees and your Medical Indemnity insurance. There is also a study budget in place for the year to attend courses and conferences.
Monday to Friday: 8.45 am – 5 pm Every 2nd & 4th Tuesday 9 am – 5 pm Saturday after-hour clinics: 9.00 am – 11.00 am then short clinic at 5.00 pm Sunday after-hour clinics: 10.00 am to 11.00 am then short clinic at 5.00 pm
The practice is based in a beautiful coastal location 2.5 hours from Auckland or Tauranga. It is a fairly rural area with a permanent population of just over 5000 increasing over the summer as it’s a popular area for holidaymakers.
The closest hospital to the practice is in Thames which is just over an hour away, with the main centre in Hamilton which is 20 minutes away by helicopter for emergencies.
The area is renowned for its natural beauty and pristine golden beaches. Mercury Bay is known for kayaking to fishing and boating. You can soak up the underground thermal minerals at the Lost Spring or visit the Hot Water Beach where you can dig your own spa.
