The 457 Employer Sponsored visa is to be removed and replaced with a new temporary visa. The Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull has today announced the foreign skilled worker visa is to be replaced to allow greater priority for Australian workers.
This news has just been released today via Malcolm Turnbull’s facebook page. More news is expected in the coming weeks but this will be replaced with a new temporary visa to ‘recruit the best and brightest in the national interest.’ The new visas will come with stricter requirements for previous work experience, English language skills and labour market testing.
We want GPs to feel reassured that we don’t anticipate that this new pathway will have minimal impact on GPs, as these new requirements are already built in to the existing medical registration application process.
